Phil Harrington, MD
CEO

Dr. Harrington qualified as an MD in 1977 from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and has studied and practiced the integration of conventional and alternative medicines. Phil has spent the past fifteen years immersed in the world of e-commerce and Internet technology. He contributed to the growth of Earthlink Sprint, now the second largest Internet service provider. Prior to his arrival in the US, he founded the largest independent consumer electronics sales and marketing company in Ireland. Currently Dr. Harrington is founder and CEO of YouBloom.com, a online "global economy of artists and friends", which has started in the independent music business. In 1997 Dr. Harrington became ill, but it was not until 2000 that a diagnosis was made and he was able to make a full recovery. It was during this time while going from doctor to doctor, suffering first hand the lack of integration between medicines that he came up with the idea of the Human Health Project. Once better, he commenced researching the subject and set up HHP as a California not-for-profit organization in 2006.

Colin Tate
User Experience Director

Colin Tate has a ten-year history of advising companies across several industries on how to improve their web-based businesses and providing organisational and strategic consultancy to the commercial and non-profit sectors. During this time he has consulted for TheStreet.com, Warner Music Group, Atlantic Records, Elektra Entertainment Group, Elavon Global Payment Systems, The Post Office (UK), Network Solutions, The Economist, and Orange, as well as several other national/multinational companies.

In addition, Colin spent three years in Japan working for the Japanese Government, where he focused primarily on conflict resolution/negotiation between governmental staff.

Colin is Managing Director of Nemawashi Ltd, and holds several Advisory Board positions on socially-minded businesses. During the last three years, he has managed to bring £50M in additional revenue to his clients. Colin lives in London, United Kingdom.

Regina Cheng
Director of Donor Development

Originally from Hong Kong, Regina Cheng moved to the United Kingdom for her education, where she gained a BSc in Banking and Finance from the University of London. Regina worked in sales for a publishing company in London for 8 years, where she was responsible for presenting different print advertising opportunities to corporate and government entities throughout the world focusing on the pharmaceutical, healthcare, telecommunications and geopolitical fields. Her longstanding keen interest in health and nutrition culminated with her move to the USA in 2007 where she studied for her Master's degree in Clinical Nutrition at New York University.

During her studies in New York, Regina was involved in volunteer work at the Nutrition Department at God's Love We Deliver in Manhattan, a non-profit organization that prepares and delivers nutritious, high-quality meals to people with life-altering illnesses.

John Kotick, JD
Board Member

For over 35 years Mr. Kotick has brought leadership, creativity and integrity to the nonprofit sector in Greater Los Angeles serving in such capacities as C.E.O. of Family Health Care Centers of Greater Los Angeles, Vice President for Community Programs for the Greater Los Angeles Affiliate of the American Heart Association and Executive Director of the Center for Health Care Rights. Experienced in health care, advocacy and services to diverse populations, Kotick has also been a Delegate to the California Conference on Handicapped Individuals and the California State House Conference on Aging. Kotick has contributed to California State legislation including the “Torres-Felando Long Term Care Reform Act”. Kotick is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a J.D. and B.A. degree in political science. Kotick lives in Los Angeles, California.

Jon Exton MBA, MCSI.
Board Member

Jon Exton has worked in corporate finance and banking for over 25 years. He commenced his career as an accountant in the hotel industry, spending many years in Canada. He qualified as an accountant there working with the conglomerate, Canadian Pacific. Jon then made the transition into Corporate Banking. After several years in Toronto with the Bank of Montreal he returned to the UK to be Director, Corporate Finance for The Toronto-Dominion Bank in London with a portfolio of blue chip multinational corporate clients.

Jon then spent several years in London with the Industrial Bank of Japan (IBJ) until its merger with two other Japanese banks to form the Mizuho Banking Group. During his time with IBJ he became Head of European Multinational Banking overseeing the relationships of the European multinational corporate clients through its offices in London, Paris, Milan, Madrid and Frankfurt. In 2000 Jon then became an independent Financial Consultant working with UK based companies and non-profit organizations.

The scope of his work has ranged from property financing to technological and media ventures with funding being arranged from leading banks, private funds and private investors. Jon is a Trustee on three UK registered charities that provide financial support in China, Uganda and the UK. He is also on the Appeals Committee of DebRA, a charity working for suffers of the genetic skin blistering condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). Jon met with Dr. Phil Harrington in 2008 and has volunteered to help in the set up of HHP in the United Kingdom. Jon is FSA registered, a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and a member of The Worshipful Company of International Bankers.

Murray C. Clarke, D.Hom. L.Ac.
Board Member

Originally from Auckland, New Zealand, Dr. Clarke is now a resident of California. He comes from a close family in which good health and respect for the needs of the children are highly regarded. Dr. Clarke was awarded a doctorate from the College of Homeopathy and is a diplomat of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, California, with post-graduate studies in clinical nutrition. After graduating with academic distinction, he served on the faculty of both Samra University and Emperor’s College teaching homeopathy. Since 1988, Dr. Clarke has been practicing in Santa Monica, California where he continues to specialize in pediatrics with an emphasis on homeopathy and nutrition. He developed the ChildLife product line as a natural outgrowth of his experience with and concern for the health and well-being of his many patients.

Ann Burroughs
Advisory Board Member

Ann Burroughs has spent 20 years working to create social change and to build strength and stability in communities in the US and across Africa. Prior to joining the Human Health Project as Executive Director, she was the Principal Consultant for Community Development and Consulting, a consortium of consultants that helps nonprofits achieve their strategic goals and supports businesses to strengthen their corporate social responsibility practices. She specializes in strategic planning, leadership development, organizational advancement, advocacy campaigns and communications. She has consulted for governments, businesses, academic institutions, foundations and leading nonprofit organizations on initiatives that range from large-scale national advocacy campaigns to micro-credit lending in Southern Africa. She has also worked as Executive Director of L.A. Works, the largest civic engagement center in Los Angeles; as Director of Communications for the World Conference of Religions for Peace; as Media Director for Amnesty International USA; as Special Advisor to the General Secretary of the South African Council of Churches; and was Adjunct Faculty at the Annenberg School for Communications at the University of Southern California. She serves on several boards both in the U.S. and in South Africa, including Shared Interest, a social guarantee fund that is dedicated to developing small businesses and creating community wealth in Southern Africa.

Mark Neveu, PhD
Advisory Board Member

Dr. Neveu has a diverse background as a pioneering scientist in both conventional and “alternative” healthcare paradigms. He received his doctoral degree in experimental oncology and toxicology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was an honorary fellow of the Harvard School of Public Health at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. For eight years, Mark supervised a drug discovery laboratory at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals responsible for molecular and cellular biology in both cancer and immunological diseases. He has published articles in the leading scientific journals such as Science and Immunity. Frustrated by the slow progress of conventional oncology, Mark self-funded a nine-month investigation to evaluate an alternative cancer treatment at a clinic in Guatemala. His growing interests in integrated medicine led to a position as President and CEO of the National Foundation of Alternative Medicine. There he focused on creating efficient strategies for the international identification and clinical evaluation of the most promising complementary and alternative therapies for degenerative diseases. Mark has traveled extensively to Europe and throughout The Americas to evaluate integrative and alternative clinics and has created a database and taxonomy to catalog these and a multitude of other diverse health and wellness therapies from around the world. In 2005, Dr. Neveu’s efforts lead to creating the Global Alliance for Health Solutions.

Ken Filbert
Advisory Board Member

Ken has been an independent medical administrator working statewide in Ohio since 1989. His experience includes building and managing practices from virtually every medical specialty, as well as consulting work with labs, hospitals, and surgery centers. His work with these entities includes; physician recruitment and retention, evaluation of carrier contracts, development of internal operations, finance, establishment of quality assurance and utilization review programs, medical compliance issues, marketing, and complete data analysis and tracking.
Ken conducted the Ohio Psychological Association’s state wide “Prompt Payment” study, to evaluate the claims payment practices of Ohio insurance carriers. This involved tracking claims data originating from group practices located in throughout the state. He was solely responsible for database design, data capture, and implementation of project. The results were presented to the Ohio State insurance commission and Ohio general assembly. Following this study, in 2001 the laws for prompt payment of claims were strengthened by the Ohio state legislature. He has taught classes on practice management, administration, and Internet security at professional organization's annual state conferences.
Ken is President of Subscription Billing Inc., a company that provides web based billing and medical records access. He is a Certified consultant with Allscripts, which is one of the top electronic medical records providers in the country, and he is currently negotiating to open immediate medical care clinics in a retail environment.

William E. Sawin, Sr.
Advisory Board Member

Bill brings to HHP, over 35 years of service in the management consulting, fund development and strategic planning. He has been involved with managing organizational development at the Motion Picture and Television Fund, Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Catholic Big Brothers and many social service, developmentally disabled organizations and Hospitals and has raised over $100 million dollars in current and deferred gifts. His expertise in legal fund development issues and his passion for success will be an asset to HHP. As a senior adviser, he will help build the visibility and capital of HHP so that the goals of the organization will be exceeded and the organization will thrive.

Noeleen Slattery Lee D.Ac. T.C.M.C.I.
Advisory Board Member

Noeleen has been in healthcare all her working life , beginning with nursing which she did for thirty three years. For the past twenty years she has worked as a Chinese Medical Practitioner as well as a Bereavement Counsellor since 1974. Noeleen has also been a voluntary worker with the Bereavement Counselling Service for ten years. While working with Cairde, a support group for families affected by HIV and AIDS, she founded a project for children infected and affected by HIV and counselled children in hospice care and families with AIDS related syndromes. Noeleen was with Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland for more than fifteen years . In her capacity as a senior Board Member and later as President of this Organisation Noeleen monitored classes and she accompanied and co- ordinated groups of students attending the Nanjing University of TCM for clinical practice . Noeleen was with AFI until the organisation dissolved in 2007. She has been the national representative for T.C.M on a Republic of Ireland Dept of Health working group whose aim is to bring T.C.M into statutory regulation and a founder member and board director of T.C.M.C.I., a registration body for Chinese Medical practitioners. Noeleen is also a founder member of ADVIC, a group advocating the rebalancing of the homicide justice system (see www.advic.ie) and through ADVIC is currently running a training course for accredited counsellors to enhance their skills when dealing with people affected by Homicide.
